Girafe, Paris
I get asked all the time for Paris recommendations and Girafe is always on the list. Despite the fact that true Paris is actually a polished casual, insider’s leaning type of city, you may feel the need to do it up since you travelled all the way. So if you’re in the mood to put on your four inch heels, curl your hair, beat your face and take a whole lot of instagram photos, this is just the restaurant for you. The good news is the food is excellent, the staff are actually nice and the decor and views are to die for.
The restaurant was designed by Joseph Dirand and is brought to us by Malafosse group who also owns and operates LouLou and Monsieur Bleu, two equally beautiful restaurants that are worth visiting. The bar is a slab of marble flanked by plush velvet stools. Try to secure killer Eiffel tower views on the jaw dropping terrace which features cosy canvas cushions and white table cloths. But if you can’t, the rich interior is a 1930’s art deco inspired space which offers a creamy dreamy, cosy alternative. Don’t forget to look up at the sumptuous ceiling and arty chandeliers. Be warned the restaurant will cost you a pretty penny and the restrooms are like a mile away but what’s beauty without sacrifice?
Girafe is one of the two restaurants in the two buildings over looking Place du Trocadero/ Palais de Chaillot. The other restaurant is Café de l’Homme and plainly speaking, the food is not great and the service is worse. Go to Girafe instead.
